Neil Gaiman has been a writer for almost twenty years, starting out in the comic world as the creator/writer of the monthly comic series SANDMAN for DC Comics. Over the years, Neil has won many awards for SANDMAN, including The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards for Best Writer for the years 1991 to 1994, and SANDMAN #19 won the 1991 World Fantasy Award for Best Short Story (the first comic ever to receive a literary award). Neil’s three part graphic novel series, DEATH: THE HIGH COST OF LIVING was published in February 1993, and DEATH: THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE was released in March 1997, winning the GLAAD award for Best Comic. Outside of comics, Neil has written the English language script for Hayao Miyazaki’s PRINCESS MONONOKE (1999), and is now a best selling novelist, penning such titles as STARDUST (1999) and AMERICAN GODS (2001).
