Dfilm was involved with, among other shots, the Liquid mirror scene within the Lafayette sequence, where a mirror envelopes Keanu Reeves' character Neo. This involved a large degree of liquid interaction with talent elements, always a challenge in the digital realm. Dfilm's CGI specialists carried out numerous live action liquid dynamic tests utilising liquids of varying viscosity and quality to establish a look and flow for the mirror substance before settling on a substance which was emulated by their CGI animation team. Numerous live action and stills elements were then used to create a virtual 3D set this was then reflection- mapped into the final CG animation.
